Configuring an LU 0 Primary Line

You can use LU 0 primary if the local system acts as a primary system to communicate with a secondary system, such as a store controller.

To configure an LU 0 primary line, use one of the following methods:

Motif administration program
Select LU 0 and New LU 0 primary line from the Services menu on the Node window.

Command-line administration program
Issue the following command:
define_primary_line

Advanced parameters for LU 0 primary lines provide control over transmission frames, bit clocking, RTS, DTR, and transmission rates.

LU 0 Primary Line Configuration Parameters

The following parameters are required for LU 0 primary line configuration:

Line name
The name of the LU 0 primary line.

Device name
The device name for the SDLC port to be used by the primary line.

Remote address
The SDLC remote secondary station address of the station that this primary line is used to call. If you do not know this value, contact the System Administrator for the remote system.

Local address
Enter the secondary station address that is used by remote stations to poll this station.

Encoding
The type of data encoding to be used on this line. NRZ is typically used in the U.S; NRZI is typically used in Europe.

Line type
Whether the line is switched or nonswitched.
