Lotus Protector for Mail Security 2.5

Designed to provide protection for organizations of all sizes, the IBM® Lotus® Protector for Mail Security 2.5 solution is available in two deployment options:




1. Software appliance: Install Lotus Protector for Mail Security software on off-the-shelf IBM System x® hardware and deploy as a physical appliance

2. Virtual Appliance: Install Lotus Protector for Mail Security on supported VMware software and deploy as a virtualized appliance.

Software appliance

Lotus Protector for Mail Security 2.5 is certified to run natively on high quality, cost-effective IBM System x® hardware as a physical appliance. Select the hardware the best suites your needs based on price verses throughput requirements.

1 No operating system is needed. Lotus Protector for Mail Security 2.5 software includes a Linux operating system, and runs natively on IBM System x hardware.

2 Different CPUs will work and may only change throughput results

3 Different memory sizes will work and may only change throughput results

4 Requires a DVD ROM minimum to install Lotus Protector

5 Controllers BR10i, MR10i, BR10il, HBA verified for Raid. MR10i must be used with more than 2 Raid mirror sets

6 The 10k or 15k RPM disk speed is recommended. Different disk sizes and speeds will work and may only change throughput results. Minimum storage size if you do not plan to retain blocked spam = 40GB. If you plan to retain blocked spam, your approximate minimum storage per disk = 40GB + (emails\day x retention days x 0.000007 GB)

7 A redundant power supply is not required but provides more reliability

8 Minimum warranty. Many other warranty and repair options can be selected

9 Measured filtering of incoming internet emails of average 19kB size with pre-filters turned off. IP pre-filtering and SMTP pre-filtering increase throughput.

Virtual appliance

Lotus Protector for Mail Security 2.5 is certified to run on VMware as a virtual appliance. Ideally suited for small to midsize businesses and scalable to more strategic operating specifications as required.

1 Lotus Protector includes a Linux operating system and runs as installed software in a VMware partition. VMware partitions the physical machine into multiple virtual machines.

4 Requires a DVD ROM minimum to install Lotus Protector

MS3004LP Appliance

The MS3004LP Appliance from IBM ISS is no longer sold. However, Lotus Protector for Mail Security 2.5 supports the MS3004LP appliance. Upgrade your MS3004LP to Lotus Protector for Mail Security 2.5 to gain all the enhancements and up to 500% performance improvement (your results may vary).
