Overview
Profiles help you quickly find the people you need by searching across your organization using tags to identify expertise, current projects, and responsibilities.
You can find people based on qualities such as the person's name, their organization, location, reporting structure, and interests.
An integrated directory and expertise location engine, IBM Connections profiles help you identify and work with key people who have specific knowledge or strategic business relationships.
With profiles, you can:
- Tap into the knowledge capital within your organization.
- Easily establish new business contacts.
- Expand your personal network.
- Develop and maintain personal relationships that span obstacles such as reporting structure, department, geography, and so on.
Typically, profiles include a person's photo, reporting structure, name, pronunciation, the time zone the person works in, and information about the individual's expertise, areas of interest, and current projects.
There are also three widgets in profiles to help you establish new connections and grow your professional network:
- The Do You Know widget recommends people, based on the other people in your network, your tags, organizational relationships, and actions that you have taken.
- The Things in Common widget helps you identify what you have in common with a person. For example, the widget may display a list of the communities that you both belong to or a list of the tags that you have both used.
- The Who Connects Us widget allows you to view the social path that links you to a person by showing the list of people who link you and the profile owner.
