- Disk: 1 GB free
DB2 Server
- CPU: P3 1 GHz
- RAM: 512 MB
- Disk: 1 GB free
Hardware Server Requirements - AIX Platforms
IBM WebSphere Portal Server (refer to Portal 5.1x Information Center for more details of installation/configuration)
AIX systems
Refer to the following list for hardware requirements for AIX systems:
-
Processor:
- RS/6000 at 450MHz at a minimum; production environments should consider higher speeds.
- Power4
- Power5
- Physical memory: 1024 MB or more per processor
- Disk space: The following values are required if you use the installation program to install WebSphere Application Server, extensions and fixes, and WebSphere Portal (including Cloudscape). These values do account for any other products or components that could be installed on the WebSphere Portal machine. Refer to the documentation for the other products for additional hardware requirement information. You can perform a custom installation of the components. The following list shows the space requirements by component:
| Component | Install directory (/usr) | Temp directory (/tmp) |
|---|---|---|
| WebSphere Portal (including Cloudscape) | 1.5 GB | 750 MB |
| WebSphere Application Server, extensions (includes Embedded Messaging), and fixes | 2.0 GB | 750 MB |
| Total | 3.5 GB | 1.5 GB minimum |
Rich Client Hardware Requirements
The minimum rich client processor and memory requirements are as follows:
- Intel Pentium 3 processor, 800 MHz
- 512 MB RAM
To reduce client startup time you can use an Intel Pentium 4 processor and increase the amount of memory to, for example, 1 GB. This increase in processor speed and memory do not provide significant performance gains after startup.
Disk space recommendations for the rich client are described in the following table.
| Installation Scenario | Recommended Disk Space |
|---|---|
| Document editors not installed | 350 MB |
| Document editors installed without language pack | 600 MB |
| Document editors installed with language pack | 700 MB |
