A separately priced, related subscription service—IBM Mobile Portal Accelerator Device Update—entitles customers to receive regular updates to the mobile device repository that include new mobile device definitions and updates as they become available from device manufacturers. The combination of the Mobile Portal Accelerator and Mobile Portal Accelerator Device Update service helps organizations quickly deliver personalized content, applications and services to mobile employees, customers and subscribers on the wide variety of mobile devices they use—even the latest devices available—without redeveloping their mobile Web applications.
What's new in IBM Mobile Portal Accelerator
IBM Mobile Portal Accelerator Version 7.0 software includes support for current platforms and formats:
- Runtime features based on WebSphere Portal Version 7.0.
- Support to author and render Lotus Web Content Management 7.0 content to mobile devices
- Inclusion of Multi-Channel Server (MCS) 5.3 for enhanced content adaption capabilities—faster and more effective optimization and delivery of portal content according to the mobile device-specific capabilities of over 7400 mobile device types.
- Use of Media Access Proxy (MAP) 5.3 to automatically resize and optimize images for display to a variety of mobile devices according to their display capabilities. (The MAP function was previously performed using the Image Conversion Service.)
