Many customers have expressed concerns with IBM's requirements for sub-capacity licensing available through Passport Advantage. While some customers have been able to comply with these terms and requirements, customers with more complex sub-capacity environments have had difficulties and reporting problems. We have listened to this feedback and have announced improvements which will simplify the implementation, especially for complex sub-capacity environments.
The following were announced:
- Implementation of the IBM license metric tool is suspended until a new tool becomes available in mid-2008. This tool will replace the use of Tivoli License Compliance Manager for IBM Software program.
- Registration with IBM's License Management System application has been eliminated.
- Submission of IBM Use Reports quarterly has been eliminated.
Note: the following requirement is currently suspended (see above).
Tracking and reporting requirements and process
If you acquire an IBM software program that is licensed under sub-capacity terms and conditions, you are required to use an IBM supplied tool to generate quarterly reports showing the use or installation of sub-capacity products This requirement will be reinstated following the availability of the new IBM license metric tool in mid-2008.
