Overview
IBM Netezza and PureData System for Analytics appliances are purpose-built, standards-based data warehouse appliances that architecturally integrate database, server, storage and advanced analytic capabilities into a single, easy-to-manage system. The IBM PureData System for Analytics offerings are powered by Netezza technology. These appliances are not licensed via the Processor Value Unit (PVU) metric, however customers can use other select IBM Programs which are licensed using the PVU metric with IBM Netezza or PureData System for Analytics appliances. This document describes how to calculate the required number of PVU entitlements for Programs that run on or manage a Netezza or PureData System for Analytics appliance.
Note: These appliances cannot be partitioned or sub-capacity licensed.
PVU Entitlements required by Appliance Model
The table below contains the number of PVU entitlements required, by appliance model, for Programs that run on or manage a Netezza or PureData System for Analytics appliance. Only Active Blade Servers of the Data Warehouse Appliance are counted for the purpose of determining the required number of PVU entitlements. An Active Blade Server is a blade that is made available to or managed by the Program. Active Blade Server model numbers and quantities per each appliance model are described in the table below. Active Blade Servers do not include other management nodes included with the appliance.

The required # of PVUs is determined as follows:
Servers x Sockets per server x Cores per socket x PVU per core = Required # of PVUs
