IBM Lotus Domino Enterprise Client Access License (CAL)
IBM Lotus Domino Enterprise CAL is a server access license that provides access to the full range of client software (including rich desktop, web and mobile clients) used to access Lotus Domino messaging and collaboration functions. These functions include teamrooms and the capability to use Lotus Domino applications. These applications may be developed in house using IBM Lotus Domino Designer software or acquired from independent software vendors.
A license to this CAL includes a single user license to of each of the following:
- IBM Lotus Notes
- IBM Lotus iNotes
- IBM Lotus Notes Traveler
- IBM Lotus Domino Designer
In addition, this license provides entitlement to the following software for 1 user:
- IBM Lotus Sametime Entry
- IBM Lotus Quickr Entry
- IBM Lotus Symphony
- IBM Lotus Mobile Connect clients
Deployment of applications to a Lotus Domino server requires the purchase of the new Lotus Domino Enterprise Client Access License (CAL) offering for all accessing users. Existing Lotus Domino Designer customers will be converted to this new offering at Software Subscription and Support renewal.
IBM Lotus Domino Messaging Client Access License (CAL)
For users with more basic collaboration needs, IBM Lotus Domino Messaging CAL provides a server access license for access to the full range of client software (including desktop, web and mobile clients) used to access Lotus Domino messaging functions. These functions are limited to messaging, calendar and scheduling, personal information management (local address book and personal journal), blogging, discussion databases and reference databases. The degree of function available to the user is controlled by the administrator through a parameter in the Lotus Domino directory.
A license to this CAL includes a single user license to of each of the following:
- IBM Lotus Notes
- IBM Lotus iNotes
- IBM Lotus Notes Traveler
In addition, this license provides entitlement to the following software for 1 user:
- IBM Lotus Sametime Entry
- IBM Lotus Quickr Entry
- IBM Lotus Symphony
Mapping for existing customers
If you have previously purchased Lotus Domino client software, your existing software will map to these new offerings per the table below. Customers who renew Software Subscription and Support in 2009 can either renew on the old offerings or renew under the new offerings as in the table in the previous questions. All customers are automatically be converted to the new offering structure in February 2010.
