• IBM Lotus Sametime® Entry software

  To help promote higher return on investment and increased user productivity, you may choose to incorporate presence awareness and instant messaging into your custom Lotus Notes-based applications developed with Lotus Domino Designer software.

  The limited entitlement to Lotus Sametime Entry software restricts its use to only select integrated instant messaging and presence awareness functions, and only within the context of Lotus Notes and Domino software.

  The integrated instant messaging and awareness features available from within the client do not eliminate the need to install the Lotus Sametime server software in your infrastructure. The server components have not been integrated into Lotus Domino software. However, there is no additional license charge for the entitled Lotus Sametime server software when used as indicated above.

  Q. What capabilities are entitled to users of Lotus Notes and Domino 8 without a license for IBM Lotus Sametime?
  A. Qualifying Lotus Notes 8 users have access to select integrated instant messaging and presence capabilities, including one-to-one and group text chat, time stamps, chat history, and the ability to sort contact names, show short names, and show only online users. In addition, the integrated capabilities in Lotus Notes software allows users to exchange messages using rich text, include emoticons (and save emoticons to emoticon palettes), see contact information for their chat partners, and easily find contacts in their contact list with type ahead search. See Table 1 for full details on the capabilities included in the instant messaging entitlement.

  Note: The "Available with Lotus Sametime License" column indicates the indicated capabilities available inside of Lotus Notes software are only available for licensed users of IBM Lotus Sametime Standard software or IBM Lotus Sametime Advanced software.

  Q. If I have licenses for both Lotus Sametime Standard software or Lotus Sametime Advanced software, and Lotus Notes software, what IM capabilities will I be able to access in Lotus Notes ?
  Users who own licenses for both Lotus Sametime Standard software or Lotus Sametime Advanced software and Lotus Notes software will be able to access all of the Lotus Sametime Connect IM capabilities from inside the Lotus Notes environment. This includes features such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP) within your company, point-to-point video, screen capture, file transfer, geographic location awareness, and selective privacy and do-not-disturb, among other capabilities. Please see Table 1 for the full list of features that would be available to licensed users of Lotus Sametime software.

  Q. Only some of the users in my organization own Lotus Sametime Standard or Lotus Sametime Advanced licenses. Can I enable full instant messaging capabilities inside of Lotus Notes software for just those users?
  Yes. You are able to specify which users are able to access full Lotus Sametime capabilities inside of Lotus Notes software through an administrative policy on the Lotus Sametime server. This policy will allow you to specify the users with Lotus Sametime Standard or Lotus Sametime Advanced licenses who are able to access the full capabilities from inside of Lotus Notes software. Unless users have been added to a policy group for this policy, they will only be able to see the entitled capabilities inside of Lotus Notes software. A full Lotus Sametime server is required to enable this policy.

  Q. Does "turning on" instant messaging and presence awareness integration with the Lotus Notes/Domino environment require a Lotus Sametime server?
  The integrated instant messaging and presence awareness features available from within the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino environment do not eliminate the need to install the Lotus Sametime server software in your infrastructure. The server components have not been integrated into the Lotus Domino server software. However, there is no additional license charge for the necessary Lotus Sametime server software when used as indicated above. With release 8 of Lotus Notes and Domino software, you should install "IBM Lotus Sametime 7.5.1 or 8.0, Instant Messaging Limited Use" software for the necessary server components for the integrated presence and instant messaging.

  Q. Do I have the option to automatically disable the use of integrated instant messaging?
  Yes. If you choose to disable the integrated instant messaging functionality, the Lotus Domino administrator can set a variable in the notes.ini file, and you have the option to lock down this setting through policy-based administration.

  Q. Does the Lotus Notes instant messaging entitlement also include the right to extend my presence awareness and instant messaging capabilities to a mobile device?
  No. The limited use entitlement allows for the use of a select set of capabilities within the Lotus Notes and Domino environment. If you wish to extend instant messaging and presence awareness outside of the Lotus Notes and Domino environment to wireless devices, licenses for Lotus Sametime Standard or Lotus Sametime Advanced software are required.

  Q. Does the Lotus Notes instant messaging entitlement also include the right to extend my presence awareness and instant messaging capabilities to a portal or other web site?
  No. The limited use entitlement allows for the use of a select set of capabilities within the Lotus Notes and Domino environment. If you wish to extend instant messaging and presence awareness outside of the Lotus Notes/Domino environment to a portal or any other environment, licenses for Lotus Sametime Standard or Lotus Sametime Advanced software are required.

  Q. Does the Lotus Notes instant messaging entitlement also include the right to connect with contacts using public IM networks or other enterprise IM networks?
  o. The limited use entitlement does not include permission to install or use Lotus Sametime Gateway for federation with supported public IM or other enterprise IM networks. If you wish to provide such capabilities, licenses for Lotus Sametime Standard or Lotus Sametime Advanced software are required.

  Q. Does the Lotus Notes instant messaging entitlement allow me to deploy plugins built for Lotus Sametime software inside of my Lotus Notes client?
  No. Real-time collaboration or unified communications and collaboration related plugins that rely on integration with Lotus Sametime functionality (e.g., that take advantage of or are integrated into the contact list, live name functionality, presence status, geographic location information, etc.) would require licenses for Lotus Sametime Standard or Lotus Sametime Advanced software in order to be deployed inside of the Lotus Notes environment.

• Lotus Expeditor limited use entitlement

  Lotus Notes 8 software and above is built on Lotus Expeditor technology. Lotus Notes 8 licensees can deploy Eclipse-based composite applications in the Lotus Notes client. These client-based applications may be provisioned from an Lotus Domino 8 and above server. A full license of IBM Lotus Expeditor software allows additional capabilities beyond what is integrated with Lotus Notes 8. For example, you can access Lotus Domino applications from mobile devices such as PDAs and Smartphones, perform advanced provisioning tasks (for example, software inventory),deploy applications that integrate easily with server-based relational data sources other than the use of IBM DB2 as an alternate data store and support a rich client desktop for employees who may not need Lotus Notes software for mail and messaging (for example, bank teller, car rental agents, telesales agents)

• Lotus Quickr Entry

  Lotus Quickr Entry software provides a "starter set" of capabilities of Lotus Quickr software. With it, you can easily move your content to your own personal file sharing area on a security-rich, managed server so you can share it with others. And it also includes the popular Lotus Quickr connectors to make it easier to work where you are without switching applications.

  Lotus Quickr Entry software helps reduce e-mail glut both for Lotus Notes 8 and above users. It provides an easy-to-use alternative for sharing information and collaborative authoring, replacing the current practice of sending large attachments, and using "reply to all". The new personal file sharing and the Lotus Notes 8.0.1 connectors in Lotus Quickr Entry make it simple for end users to move their content from e-mail attachments into their personal Quickr place. In addition, when attachments are moved to a personal Quickr place, they also become accessible from a Web browser, Lotus Symphony editors, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Windows Explorer. Users will benefit by always having access to the latest version of a team-shared resource, such as document or spreadsheet.

  Lotus Quickr Entry software provides a single personal workspace for each user. Within that workspace, each user can perform content management functions (such as check-in and check-out) and provide other users with links to shared content. The user can hide designated content to make it private. Users can access content via the Lotus Quickr connectors or by using a Web browser.

  Lotus Quickr Entry provides a content store, a set of Web services that provides personal file sharing and a set of downloadable connectors (similar to plug-ins) that provide access to Lotus.

  When the full capability of Lotus Quickr Standard is needed, users can purchase it and seamlessly move their content to Lotus Quickr Standard. Users of both Lotus Quickr Entry software and Lotus Quickr Standard software are can access their Quickr places through the Lotus Notes sidebar.

  Eligible licensees can access IBM Lotus Quickr^TM Entry software through IBM Passport Advantage.
