"MAYO" TO ENHANCE LOTUS NOTES END-USER EXPERIENCE
New software improves usability and adds powerful features to venerable corporate collaboration platform
LOTUSPHERE, ORLANDO, FL. January 19, 2009 - If your organization relies on IBM Lotus Notes and Domino every day, you may soon be spreading a little "Mayo" on your collaboration software for a productivity boost.
Codename: Mayo is an upcoming utility package for the Lotus Notes client in development by Ytria, Inc., a leading provider of Lotus Notes development and administration software tools. It features a host of user-friendly add-ons designed to let users find databases quickly; fix conflicts; quickly analyze data in novel ways; and more. Ytria will be offering a sneak preview of Mayo at Lotusphere 2009.
"Everyone I talk to these days is concerned with getting more accomplished in their work day," explains Eric Houvenaghel, President of Ytria. "Even when you're working with well-designed applications, it's an amazing feeling when you find something, like the Mayo software, that can give you an edge and kick your productivity up a few notches."
The idea behind Mayo came to Houvenaghel several years ago: "I thought to myself: I've been working with Lotus Notes for quite a while now, yet I keep spending a lot of time trying to find databases in obscure directories, solving conflicts and scanning my overcrowded workspace tabs," he says. "On their own, these may be 'little things' but over time they can really eat away a lot of man-hours." Once he started talking about his observations to colleagues, he realized that he wasn't alone in his thinking.
Project Mayo aims to enhance the Lotus Notes client in several key areas including (but not limited to):
- A faster and more efficient way for people to explore their Lotus Notes Workspace
- Giving users a quick way to find any database when they need to
- Ability to quickly find a folder for any given document
- Re-organizing any view, Mayo eliminates the need to create multiple views to see the same information
- Graphing any view, Mayo users can quickly examine view information in a graph
- An enhanced and more user-friendly document export tool
- Capability for users to resolve replication/save conflicts on their own
Project Mayo is being developed as a light-weight, scalable and affordable solution for any organization using Lotus Notes and Domino. Compatible with Lotus Notes 6.x and above, Mayo aims to boost productivity for Lotus Notes end-users around the world. A sneak preview of Mayo is available at either Booth 235 or 236 on the Lotusphere 2009 showcase floor.
