System requirements

Below is the list of software and hardware required for IBM WebSphere® MQ Workflow Servers and Client.

WebSphere MQ Workflow Server for Multiplatforms V 3.6

Database: One of the following:

  • IBM DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition for AIX V8.2, or DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition for AIX V8.1 with fixpack 7a,
  • IBM DB2 Universal Database Version 9.1 (included in the Media Pack) with FP1 or higher Fix Pack
  • Oracle9i Database Release 2 (9.2.0) for AIX 5L based systems;
  • Oracle Database 10g for HP-UX Release 1 (10.1.0) with patchset 4 or higher patc hset, or Oracle 10g for HP-UX Release 2 (v10.2.0.1) or higher patchset (if using WebSphere MQ for HP-UX V6.0 )


Clients for AIX:

Operating system: AIX 5L V5.1 with ML06 or a higher maintenance level, or V5.2 with ML04 or a higher maintenance level, or V5.3 with ML01 or a higher maintenance level

Communication: IBM WebSphere MQ client for AIX V5.3 with FP 08 or a higher Fix Pack, or IBM WebSphere MQ client for AIX V6.0 (included in the Media Pack)

Web application server: IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0, or V5.1.0 or a higher mod level, or V6.0 or V6.1

For a Portal Client: IBM WebSphere Portal V5.0, or V5.1

For the development of programs using the IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow APIs, one of the following:

  • IBM C for AIX V6.0
  • IBM XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition for AIX V7.0
  • IBM VisualAge C++ Professional for AIX V6.0
  • IBM Java Software Development Kit V1.4.1 or V1.4.2
Servers for AIX

System: pSeries uniprocessor, SMP, or SP machine as supported by AIX

System for AIX 5L with PowerProcessor chip

Storage Requirements: Main memory - 1GB; Hard disk - 2GB

Screen: Dedicated graphical display not necessary; the system console is sufficient

Clients for AIX:

System: Workstation with PowerProcessor chip capable of running the operating system
AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional For process modeling and monitoring

  • WebSphere Business Integration Workbench V4.2.4
  • WebSphere Business Integration Modeler V4
  • WebSphere Business Integration Monitor V4.1
  • WebSphere Business Integration Modeler V5
  • WebSphere Business Monitor V6


For LDAP bridge: One of the following

  • IBM Tivoli Directory Server V5.2
  • Microsoft Active Directory (feature of Windows 2003 Server)


Supported Web browsers

For Web user access to the Portal client: a browser supporting HTML 4 with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and supporting W3C DOM:

  • Mozilla Navigator V1.7 or higher, or Firefox 1.0 or Netscape Version 7 or Microsoft Internet Explorer V6.0 or higher


For Web user access to the Web client: a browser supporting HTML 4 with CSS:

  • Mozilla Navigator V1.7 or higher or Firefox 1.0 or Netscape Version 7, or Microsoft Internet Explorer V6.0 or higher

HP-UX Servers for HP-UX (Intel Itanium):

Operating system:

  • HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) (starting with WebSphere MQ Workflow V3.6 SP5)
  • HP-UX 11i V3 (11.31) (starting with WebSphere MQ Workflow V3.6 SP6)


Communication:

  • IBM WebSphere MQ for HP-UX (Itanium) V6.0.1 or a higher mod level


Database: One of the following:

  • IBM DB2 Universal Database V8.2 FP4 or a higher Fix Pack, or IBM DB2 Universal Database V9.1 (included in the Media Pack) with FP1 or a higher Fix Pack
  • Oracle9i for HP Release 2 (v9.2.0.7) or higher patchset or Oracle 10g for HP Release 2 (v10.2.0.2) or higher patchset


Clients for HP-UX (Intel Itanium)

Communication:

  • IBM WebSphere MQ client for HP-UX (Itanium) V6.0.1 or a higher mod level


Web application server:

  • IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1 or a higher mod level, or V6.1


For the development of programs using the IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow APIs:

  • HP aC++/ANSI C vA.06.10
  • HP SDK for J2SE HP-UX 11i platform, adapted by IBM for IBM Software, V1.4.2 SR2 and V1.5 as feature of the WebSphere Application Server


Note: Customer HP-UX (PA-RISC) C/C++-programs using the WMQWF C/C++ APIs need to be recompiled C/C++-compiler

Servers for HP-UX (PA-RISC):

Operating system:

  • HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11)
  • HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) (starting with WebShere MQ Workflow V3.6 SP5)
  • HP-UX 11i V3 (11.31) (starting with WebSphere MQ Workflow V3.6 SP6)


Communication:

  • IBM WebSphere MQ for HP-UX V5.3 with FP 08 or a higher Fix Pack, or FP10 or a higer Fix Pack (if using HP-UX 11i v2)
  • IBM WebSphere MQ for HP-UX (PA-RISC) V6.0 (included in the Media Pack)


Database: One of the following:

  • IBM DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition for HP-UX V8.2, or V8.1 with fixpack 7a
  • IBM DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition for HP-UX or 8.2 FP4 or a higher Fix Pack,IBM DB2 Universal Database Version 9.1 (included in the Media Pack) with FP2 or a higher Fix Pack (I if using HP-UX 11i v2)
  • Oracle9i Database for HP-UX Release 2 (9.2.0) or higher patchset (if using WebSphere MQ for HP-UX V5.3 )
  • Oracle Database 10g for HP-UX Release 1 (10.1.0) with patchset 4 or higher patc hset, or Oracle 10g for HP-UX Release 2 (v10.2.0.1) or higher patchset (if using WebSphere MQ for HP-UX V6.0)


Clients for HP-UX (PA-RISC)

Communication:

  • IBM WebSphere MQ client for HP-UX V5.3 with FP 08 or a higher Fix Pack
  • IBM WebSphere MQ client for HP-UX (PA-RISC) V6.0 (included in the Media Pack)


Web application server:

  • IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0, or V5.1.0 or a higher mod level, or V6.0 or V6.1


For a Portal Client:

  • IBM WebSphere Portal V5.0, or V5.1


For the development of programs using the IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow APIs:

  • HP ANSI C++ Compiler v03.50 for HP-UX Adapted IBM Java SDK 1.4.1 or 1.4.2 as feature of the WebSphere Application Server
Servers for HP-UX (Intel Itanium)

System: HP Integrity server with Intel Itanium 2 processor

Screen: A dedicated graphical display is not necessary; the system console is sufficient

Clients for HP-UX (Intel Itanium):

System: A workstation capable of running the operating system.

Servers for HP-UX (PA-RISC):

System: HP 9000 workstation with PA-RISC processor

Screen: A dedicated graphical display is not necessary; the system console is sufficient

Clients for HP-UX (PA-RISC)

System: A workstation capable of running the operating system.
Linux Operating system: One of the following:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux V3
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux V4
  • Suse Linux Enterprise Server V9
  • Suse Linux Enterprise Server V10


Communication: IBM WebSphere MQ client for Linux V5.3 with FP 08 or a higher Fix Pack, or WebSphere MQ client for Linux V6.0 (included in the Media Pack)

Web application client: IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0, or V5.1.0 or a higher mod level, or V6.0, or v6.1

For a Portal client: IBM WebSphere Portal V5.0, or V5.1

For the development of programs using the IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow APIs:

  • Java Software Development Kit V1.4.1 or V1.4.2
System: A hardware system with Intel 32-bit processor architecture or IBM z/Series 31-bit application support on 64-bit
Solaris Servers for Sun Solaris:

Operating system: Sun Solaris 8 or 9, or 10

Communication: IBM WebSphere MQ for Sun Solaris V5.3 with FP 08 or a higher Fix Pack, or WebSphere MQ for Sun Solaris V6.0 (included in the Media Pack)

Database: One of the following:

  • IBM DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition for Sun Solaris V8.2, or DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition V8.1 with Fix Pack 7a
  • IBM DB2 Universal Database Version 9.1 (included in the Media Pack) with FP 1 or higher Fix Pack
  • Oracle9i Database Release 2 (9.2.0) for Sun Solaris;

  • Sun ONE Studio 8 C++ Compiler on Sun Sparc
  • Sun Java 2 SDK 1.4.1, or 1.4.2, or adapted IBM Java SDK 1.4.1 or 1.4.2 as feature of IBM WebSphere Application Server
Servers for Sun Solaris

System: Sun workstation with SPARC processor

Screen: A dedicated graphical display is not necessary; the system console is sufficient

Clients for Sun Solaris:

System: A workstation capable of running the operating system
Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional Servers for Windows:

Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server, or Windows XP Professional Edition

Communication: IBM WebSphere MQ for Windows V5.3 with FP 08 or a higher Fix Pack, or WebSphere MQ for Windows V6.0 (included in the Media Pack)

Database One of the following:

  • IBM DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition for Windows V8.1 with Fix Pack 7a, or DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition for Windows V8.2 higher Fix Pack
  • IBM DB2 Universal Database Version 9.1 (included in the Media Pack) with FP 1 or higher Fix Pack


Clients for Windows:

Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server, or Windows XP Professional Edition

Communication: IBM WebSphere MQ client for Windows V5.3 with FP 08 or a higher Fix Pack, or IBM WebSphere MQ client for Windows V6.0 (included in the Media Pack)

For Desktop access: a IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow Desktop client (included in the Media Pack)

Web application server: IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0, or V5.1.0 or a higher mod level, or V6.0 or V6.1

For a Portal client: IBM WebSphere Portal V5.0, or V5.1

For the development of programs using the IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow APIs, either:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 7 2002 (WebSphere MQ Workflow client APIs for C and C++)
  • Java Software Development Kit V1.4.1 or V1.4.2, or Sun Java SDK 1.4.1 or 1.4.2
  • VisualBasic V7 for Windows for WebSphere MQ Workflow ActiveX Controls


For a IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow standard client, no additional prerequisites
Note: On the supported workstations, WebSphere MQ Workflow V3.6 runs in 32-bit mode and supports WebSphere MQ V6.0 on IPv4 networks only.

System: PC with Intel-based processor architecture. For test or demonstration purposes, a ThinkPad or portable PC is acceptable.

WebSphere MQ Workflow Server for z/OS V 3.6

z/OS Servers for z/OS (included in 5655-BPM):

Operating system: z/OS V1 R4, or higher (5694-A01)

For the development of programs using the Workflow APIs:

  • IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS V3R2 (5655-G53), or higher
  • IBM SDK for z/OS, Java 2 Technology Edition V1.4.1 or V1.4.2 (5655-I56)

Note: On z/Series, WebSphere MQ Workflow for z/OS V3.6 runs in 31-bit mode and supports WebSphere MQ V6.0 on IPv4 networks only.
