IBM extends WebSphere MQ V5.3 to the HP OpenVMS platform

IBM extends WebSphere MQ V5.3 to OpenVMS, bringing all the enhancements of this release to business with investments in this HP platform. You can now integrate applications residing on OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS Itanium (in 32-bit mode) with all the features of the market-leading software for messaging and integration. WebSphere MQ for HP OpenVMS V5.3 supersedes MQSeries for Compaq OpenVMS Alpha V5.1.

Highlights of WebSphere MQ for HP OpenVMS V5.3 include:

  • Open standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) support for secure transfer of messages (when used in conjunction with HP SSL for OpenVMS)
  • Integrated support for standard programming interface, Java Message Service (JMS) v1.1, including publish and subscribe messaging
  • Increased flexibility of the de facto standard programming interface, MQ Interface (MQI), with new crossing exit support
  • Performance and scalability enhancements
  • Simplified cluster management

The announcement of WebSphere MQ for HP OpenVMS V5.3 also includes this Statement of Direction: IBM intends to make WebSphere MQ V5.3 available on the HP NonStop Server platform in the second half of 2005.
