Overview
The Adapter Framework is the common runtime environment that is a prerequisite for all WebSphere Adapter Development Kit.
The framework includes a combination of run-time libraries and operational administrative tools. The run-time libraries can be deployed on all supported operating systems. The operational administrative tools are supported on Microsoft® Windows® platforms.
- The Adapter Framework and most of the WebSphere Business Integration Adapters are enabled to work with Server Foundation.
- The Framework supports Tivoli® Monitoring for Transaction Performance (TMTP). Instrumentation that conforms to the Application Response Measurement (ARM) standard, which provides a way to manage and measure business transactions, has been added to the adapter framework.
- The Framework supports Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) which uses the event model defined in the IBM Autonomic Common Base Event (CBE) for its event management functions. CBE is a standard being defined for use by applications in generating events.
- The Adapter Framework supports a new version of Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE). Because of the changes that supporting this new JRE requires, customers will have the option of: (1) remaining on WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework V2.4 andcontinuing to run their existing adapters, or (2) customers can make startup script changes to their adapters and upgrade to this new version of the adapter framework to take advantage of some new features and platform support.
