Effective Software Testing: Tools and strategies for project success Testing
Hello, my name is Chris Nelson, and I would like to tell you about one of the dWorks Live technical seminars called Effective Software Testing.
Its one of the seminars we will be delivering all over the world.
In this seminar, we will cover the range of software quality issues in software development, the roles people play, and the tools they use. We’ll also see how the Eclipse platform – the framework used by the Rational tools – acts as an integrating team factor, and automates many aspects of software quality.
A sample application will be used to demonstrate the topics discussed. We’ll start by responding to new requirements using RequisitePro, and then modify our test plans with Clear Quest Test Manager.
From there, we will talk about how best practices built into the Rational Application Developer automate steps like component testing, and code and architecture review.
Then we will look at functional testing using the Rational Functional Tester, and the Rational Manual Tester. We’ll create some functional scripts, run those scripts, and then merge them back into a larger functional test suite – and even find some defects which we will submit for correction.
Then we shift gears, and move to performance testing, and why this is critical for commercial websites. We’ll use the Rational Performance Tester to create a script for a particular usage scenario, and then merge the scripts into a larger suite. Then we will configure the suite to simulate a usage scenario which we will use to stress our website, execute it, and then use the embedded toolkit to find bottle necks, and trace it back to the code that is suspect.
Finally, we will show you some resources where you can get more information, and download the products for evaluation.
If you think this seminar is of use to you, then I encourage you to go to the website below and sign up for one in a location near you. I hope to see you at one of them.
