KUCHARZ: The USTA is the national governing body of tennis in the United States, and we own and operate the US Open, which is the world's largest annually attended sporting event.

Through the course of two weeks we'll have about 625,000 people visit us at the National Tennis Center. But at the same time, we'll have millions of people around the world in about 165 countries watch it on TV.

At the same time, we have millions of people coming to the Web sites that IBM operates for us throughout the event to see what's going on.

Our goal at the US Open Web site is to enhance the fan experience and to generate revenue to support the mission of the organization which is to promote and develop the growth of tennis.

IBM's on demand solution allows us to focus on what we're good at which is managing the world's largest tennis championship. We're great at media. We're great at marketing. We're great at entertainment. We're not great at technology.

We need a partner to come in to provide that solution for us so that we can worry about what we're good at and what we're there to do, which is manage the world's largest tennis championship.

The IBM Tivoli Intelligent Orchestrator allows us not to worry about our hosting and serving capacity. It's able to accommodate the peaks and valleys that we have throughout the tournament so that when we have a great match we have the serving capacity to handle a tremendous amount of Web traffic. When we have rain delays it actually scales back and we don't need all the serving capacity that we have the rest of the time.

IBM Tivoli Intelligent Orchestrator allows us to make sure that we have an on demand hosting solution for us. We are able to have as much serving and computing capacity as we need at any time during the event. The infrastructure that we need during the US Open is 50 times greater than the rest of the year.

IBM's on demand solution gives us the technology and infrastructure we need to let them focus on what they're good at which is covering the event and enhancing the fan experience.
