Minimum system requirements

IBM Intelligent Transportation requires an IBM Intelligent Operations Center. IBM Intelligent Operations Center must meet minimum hardware requirements. IBM Intelligent Transportation installs into the IBM Intelligent Operations Center.

Web Browsers:

To use the portal user interface of IBM Intelligent Transportation and the IBM Intelligent Operations Center, you must have one of the following browsers installed with JavaScript™ enabled.

  • Internet Explorer 9.1 (32 and 64 bit)
  • Mozilla Firefox 10.0, 9.0, 3.6, 3.5, 3.0

Note that Mozilla Firefox 4.0 is not supported

Operating System:

IBM Intelligent Operations Center servers:

IBM Intelligent Transportation is supported to run on the IBM Intelligent Operations Center servers installed with the following operating system:

64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 5.5 or later but earlier than 6.0, with the Secure Shell (SSH) service installed and open.

IBM Intelligent Transportation installation management server:

The IBM Traffic Information Hub installer is run on the installation management server. The IBM Intelligent Transportation installation management server also requires 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 5.5 or later but earlier than 6.0, with the Secure Shell (SSH) service installed and open.

Hardware Requirements:

Server requirements

Each server must have an x86 64-bit processor including one of the following:

  • AMD 64-bit processors
  • Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T) processors

The recommended hardware configuration for processors, memory, and hard disk space for each of the IBM Intelligent Operations Center servers is shown below.

Hardware configuration sizings are intended for an energy efficient environment, easy to manage and extend, with x86 servers such as IBM BladeCenter H with IBM blades and Intel Xeon EP and EX processors, storage, and associated networking components.

Note:

  • The /tmp folder on the IBM Intelligent Transportation installation management server must have at least 35 GB of available space.
  • Define swap space for each server to be twice the amount of the physical memory. For example, if a server has 16 GB memory, define 32 GB of swap space.

Client requirements:

Each client accessing the IBM Intelligent Operations Center must meet the following hardware requirements:

  • A monitor with a minimum 1280 x 800 resolution
  • 2 GB memory
  • Network access with sufficient bandwidth for complex web client generation and continuous data updates.
