ABSTRACT OF PROBLEM
___________________
When  using MRC (available with APAR PQ36341) during CRUISE cap-
tures, some of the MRC control data is not properly  initialized
and  copied  to  tape.  This  could possibly cause database cor-
ruption.
 
COMMENTS ON PROBLEM
___________________
 
1.  After CRUISE has completed  a  chain  chase  during  capture
    processing  with multiple reference check (MRC), MRC control
    data is compressed before writing the control data to  tape.
    The  last  ordinal of MRC control data is skipped during the
    compression phase, causing incomplete  control  data  to  be
    copied  to tape. A database can be corrupted after restoring
    a tape that contains missing MRC control data. Database cor-
    ruption occurs because indexes and  references  may  not  be
    updated during restore processing.
 
2.  During the initialization of MRC records at the start of the
    capture  process,  the  last MRC control data ordinal is not
    initialized.
 
SOLUTION
________
 
1.  UFHN00 has  been  updated  to  copy  all  MRC  control  data
    ordinals  during  the  MRC control data compression phase of
    CRUISE capture processing.
 
2.  UFHM00 has been updated to initialize all  the  MRC  records
    before starting the capture process.
