ABSTRACT OF PROBLEM

This  APAR  adds  the  ability to read (parse) Extensible Markup
Language (XML) data on the TPF 4.1 system.


COMMENTS ON PROBLEM
___________________
XML is a markup language that combines  the  power  of  Standard
Generalized   Markup  Language  (SGML)  and  the  simplicity  of
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). XML allows you to mark up data
based on the information that the data contains rather than  how
it  is  to  be  rendered. Data marked up in XML is easy to share
across various platforms and across various companies. For  more

SOLUTION
________
This APAR is a port of the XML Parser for  C++  (XML4C)  version
3.1.2  to the TPF 4.1 system.  XML4C allows TPF 4.1 applications
written in C++ language to do the following:
 - Parse XML documents using the Document Object Model (DOM)
   version 1.0 specification
 - Parse XML documents using the Simple API for XML (SAX)
   version 1.0 specification
 - Parse XML documents with or without validation against a
   specified Document Type Definition (DTD).

The TPF information for the XML parser is exclusively online.
The browser-readable HTML files are available on the TPF website
(http://www.s390.ibm.com/products/tpf).     The    documentation
explains how you can benefit from using XML, what pieces of  XML
are  supported  on  TPF,  and  includes  an  HTML version of the
Migration Guide information for this APAR. In addition, there is
a tutorial that will walk you through a sample application step-
by-step as well as directions  for  using  the  sample  programs
included with the XML4C source code.
