CONTENTS ________ This README file contains information about unpacking the IBM sysroot files, which is required in order to build the gcc compiler as a cross compiler for z/TPF. 1.0 PreRequisites 2.0 Installing "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" 3.0 Customizing "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" 4.0 Running "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" 5.0 Known Problems and Workarounds 6.0 Other Sources of Information 7.0 Notices 7.1 Trademarks and service marks 1.0 PREREQUISITES "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" ____________________________________________ The release level is the following: z/TPF at PUT 3 level or earlier. This file should be downloaded and installed when a user wants to build the gcc compiler as a cross compiler for z/TPF. 2.0 INSTALLING "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" _________________________________________ 1. Create a directory for tpf cross compiler for example, mkdir -p /ztpf/tpfcross cd /ztpf/tpfcross 2. Unpack "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" for example, tar -xjf /home/downloads/"tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" 3.0 CUSTOMIZING "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" __________________________________________ n/a 4.0 RUNNING "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" ______________________________________ n/a 5.0 KNOWN PROBLEMS AND WORKAROUNDS ___________________________________ 1. The entire sysroot that is required to build the gcc compiler as a cross compiler for z/TPF is not included in "tpf-sysroot-ibm.tar.bz2" and is not provided by IBM. Another file, named "gpl-include.tar.bz2", is required. Contact your IBM/TPF Support Representative for information on how to obtain this file. Availability and full support of GNU Compiler Collection is available in the form of a support offering from IBM. Contact your IBM/TPF Support Representative or TPFQA@US.IBM.COM for additional information on this offering. 2. Once "gpl-include.tar.bz2" has been downloaded, perform the following steps (and using the /ztpf/tpfcross directory example used earlier): cd sys-root tar -xjf "/home/downloads/gpl-include.tar.bz2" cp -r gpl-include/* /ztpf/tpfcross/sys-root/usr/include 3. Users can now build the cross compiler using the "--with-sysroot=/ztpf/tpfcross/sys-root" parameter in the configure command. 6.0 OTHER SOURCES OF INFORMATION _________________________________ See the topic, "Build the GNU compiler collection for the z/TPF system" in the TPF infocenter for more information on using the sysroot. 7.0 NOTICES ___________ IBM may not offer the products, services, or features discussed in this information in other countries.
