Building on event technology introduced in CICS TS V4.1, system events can now be automatically produced, providing immediate insight into the health of your system.
A new 64-bit Java runtime environment, coupled with enhancements to the multithread Java Virtual Machine (JVM) server infrastructure allows CICS to run more, and larger, Java applications in a single region - delivering better scalability for Java workloads in CICS.
CICS TS V4.2 extends its investment in System z IP networking, and supports the function shipping of file control, transient data, and temporary storage requests between CICS regions. The potential benefits of this include improved performance as well as the ability to simplify network administration.
Simplifying the management of CICS configuration, administration and performance remains a focus, with improvements made to existing features, as well as some exciting new additions.
The scalability of the CICS environment is enhanced with major extensions to multiprocessor exploitation, including Threadsafe access and function shipping requests between CICS systems.
