There is now, for the first time ever, an open beta program for this new release of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS - Version 3 Release 2.
No formal education is offered for this beta program. However, educational documentation and presentations are available with the product on the download site.
Objectives
The objectives of providing an open beta program for this release are:
- To give early access to the new function in CICS TS V3.2
- To provide feedback to IBM
- To test the code in various and unique environments
- To ensure that the code functions as designed
- CICS application connectivity:
- Support for WSDL 2.0
- Web services support for MTOM and XOP
- Support for WS-I Basic Profile 1.1 and Simple SOAP Binding Profile 1.0
- Support for the WS-Trust specification in WS-Security
- IP interconnectivity for DPL
- Enhanced TCP/IP management and control
- Updates for CICS Web Support - CICS application reuse
- Enhancements to data mapping and to WSDL in Web services
- Java API for Web Services Assistant
- 64-bit support for channels and containers
- Optimized support for CCSID data conversion
- C/C++ integrated translator
- Further codepage support in CICS translator for C
- CICS-MQ adapter, CICS-MQ trigger monitor, and CICS-MQ bridge transferred from WebSphere MQ - CICS service management
- Online management of program libraries
- Support for Enterprise Workload Manager
- Threadsafe file control commands
- Threadsafe definition for system autoinstalled global user exits
- Threadsafe CICS journalling commands
- Threadsafe WebSphere MQ commands
- Enhancements to Java configuration and management
- Integrated installation of CICSPlex SM
- Enhancements to CICSPlex SM
- Enhancements to the CICSPlex SM Web User Interface
- CICSPlex SM support for new functions
- Revised CICSPlex SM Web User Interface view and menu packaging
- Larger capacity (> 2 GB) for shared data tables
- Support for larger capacity (> 4 GB) VSAM ESDS files
- Improved timing data precision in monitoring and statistics records
- Compression for monitoring data records
- Enhancement to CICS statistics
- Increase in default size of the trace table
- Enhancement allowing DFHTRxxx trace programs to run RMODE(31)
- Enhancements to INQUIRE MVSTCB
- XCF group limit avoidance

Note that the CICS Service Flow Feature is not available with this beta program. Also note that the promotional copy of WebSphere Developer for System z to be provided with the product at general availability is not included in this beta program.
