CICS Transaction Server for z/OS V3.1

CICS TS V3.1 will:

• Enable new Java applications to extend the value of existing applications with their proven, operational business logic, while minimizing the risk associated with exploiting new technology.

• Allow deployment of new Java applications that inherit the CICS qualities of service.

• Allow CICS applications to be exposed as Web services to enable virtual enterprises to link heterogeneous systems as required.

• Provide integration with modern development environments, reducing both the cost of producing the new technology solution and the time to market for production of traditional applications.

• Enable creation of adapters for integrating business applications, providing effective re-use of existing assets. By consolidating the integration activities in the host environment, risk and complexity is reduced, as well as the cost of creating point-to-point integration solutions. Integration solutions can be created with high performance, scalability, and availability by exploiting the robust infrastructure provided by CICS TS.

• Allow for rapid return on investment by providing a range of new capabilities that can be immediately exploited, through system configuration, to provide an improved service to the business, thereby reducing the cost of computing from the day of adoption.

• The Service Flow Feature (SFF) runtime capability provides runtime components that extend CICS Transaction Server by providing adapters that exploit CICS interfaces to invoke the CICS terminal oriented transactions and COMMAREA programs required by the service flow.

• Provide security support using the following WS-Security standards: Triple Data Encryption Standard, (Triple DES), Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), 128 bit key length, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES),192 bit key length, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), 256 bit key length.
