Name: Steve Zemblowski
Job Role: CICS Technical Support
IBM start date: 1st October 1982
Length working on CICS: 22 years |
 |
 |
| What do you have to do with CICS? |
| I spent a short lifetime writing CICS General Information manuals and Release Guides and then the first edition of the CICS Application Programming Primer with my good friend Carol Shanesy. |
| What were you doing around 8th July 1969? |
| I started with CICS in 1975 installing CICS/OS/VS 1.3 and migrating the Sentry Insurance production system from CICS/OS/VS 1.1.1. I joined IBM as a member of the Dallas Systems Center in 1982 have been there since. In my current position I work with the beta customer, provide pre-sales technical support for existing customers, help them migrate to the new releases of CICS and provide critical situation support for customers having problems. |
| Fondest CICS related memory |
| Completing the installation and production migration of CICS/OS/VS 1.5 in 30 days and then having a production Distributed Transaction Processing application up and running in production within 90 days. |
| “If CICS was to disappear tomorrow…..” |
| The business world as we know it would cease to exist! I would spend the rest of my IBM career trying to get customers converted to the latest "transaction processing" software (quickly). |
| Name something else 35 years old that you still use. |
| I still read my copies of Isaac Aimov's "The Foundation Series" trilogy that I acquired the summer of 1969. |
