Name: Kevin Russell
Job Role: CICS System Tester
IBM start date: 29 September 1986
Length working on CICS: 13 years |
 |
 |
| What do you have to do with CICS? |
| I started working on CICS in earnest when I joined what was then called Information Development (now User Technologies) in 1991. I worked on the following books: Library Guide, Application Programming Guide for CICS/VSE; but I spent most of my time in ID working on the Messages and Codes books for all the CICS mainframe platforms. I'm now working in CICS Test as a CICSPlex SM tester. |
| What were you doing around 8th July 1969? |
| I was still in primary school. I was a weekly boarder at the Royal School for the Blind, Wavertree, Liverpool. |
| Fondest CICS related memory |
| Handling my personal copy of the Library Guide when it arrived hot off the press. Even though I'm totally blind and so unable to read the printed version of the book I had so lovingly and painstakingly worked on, it was a nice feeling to have the actual, tangible product in my hand. |
| “If CICS was to disappear tomorrow…..” |
| ...I would never trust a hole in the wall cash machine again. |
| Name something else 35 years old that you still use. |
| This is a tricky one. I still use my Perkins Brailler (a good old-fashioned mechanical Braille writer), which was bought for me in 1968. |
