IBM LanguageWare is a natural language processing (NLP) technology that is exclusively available as part of IBM Content Analytics. Developed by IBM, LanguageWare is a powerful, flexible UIMA based tooling environment to build underlying models that improve an organization’s contextual and semantic understanding of content.
Executive overview
IBM LanguageWare was created to address the increasing demand for solutions that help in how we organize, store, find, relate and act on information - information that frequently resides within ever-growing volumes of unstructured data. Over 80% of the information passing through our corporations is unstructured. Almost all of the decisions we make in our daily lives are driven by information that is 100% unstructured, i.e. natural language. We read e-mails, reports, presentations, instant messages, web pages, and we communicate via text or voice with colleagues and friends. IBM LanguageWare extracts the deep semantic meaning within these information sources to make it available for integration into business processes.
Now a feature of IBM Content Analytics, LanguageWare is used to develop Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA) compliant custom information annotators. It also provides a highly optimized rules engine to help reduce development time. In combination with IBM Content Analytics version 2.2, LanguageWare may be used to:
- Develop and deploy custom text analytics for IBM Content Analytics that address industry-specific requirements.
- Easily create and add new facets into IBM Content Analytics rapid insight search and exploration user interface
- Develop lexical analysis for both deeper and new language support
