| ""ICU is the premier Unicode enablement software library, providing a full range of services for supporting internationalization -- especially in server environments. It provides cross-platform C, C++ and Java APIs. The Java version of ICU builds upon the internationalization features in Sun’s Java (much of which was supplied by the ICU team). The ICU4JNI subproject also supplies Java APIs that interface to the C version of ICU, for very significant performance increases in environments that are not limited to pure Java."
