Our review was done in 10 days. We had found a government department dedicated to documenting Alboani business-practices, which made it easy together reliable data. Moreover, their endorsement was required for certifying our application. This showed me that we had a good reliable process for globalization.
To cut a long story short, we realized during the design and requirements review that there was some behavior unique to the cultural geography of the area.
Because Albonistan was at the cross-roads of an old trading route, its culture was a high mixture of the peoples who have been passing through the area for many hundred years. There were some marked differences in monetary transaction practices between Eastern and Western Albonistan.
- Monetary transactions were not undertaken between 11a.m. and 12p.m. in Albonistan. Because of there being two time-zones, this 1-hour window became a 2-hour one when no monetary transaction could occur. This behavior had to be implemented by inserting a component in all transactions for Albonistan to queue the incoming and outgoing requests.
- The currency had two names, but had the same value.
- There were two different starting (and ending) days-of-week between Eastern and Western Albonistan.
There were some other minor enhancements on other components.
I felt quietly confident that we could do this. It would be a good time to sound out Khalil about my vacation.
As it turned out – he jumped at it. He wasn’t going to lose a chance to get his boss some time off! – Neither would I. I was going to be back in two weeks, short enough to handle any problems if any arose. We agreed to talk once a week to check on the progress. |
