New Intelligence: It's a Data Driven World

We live in a world that produces a tremendous amount of information. Today there are 4 billion mobile phone subscribers. There are 1 billion people on the internet. There are 1 billion transistors for every man, woman, and child, on the planet. And it generates a lot of information: 15 petabytes (10^16) of data. Every, single, day. This plethora of data represents both an opportunity and a challenge: how can companies discover, surface, and analyze this data for the benefit of their businesses? And further--how can companies make this information easily available to business managers?

jStart and New Intelligence Technologies

Working with SWG's Emerging Internet Technology's research group, jStart has been exploring a number of new technologies to address the new reality of massive amounts of data, as well as these key business challenges:

  • How can companies discover valuable data?
  • Once the information is discovered, how do you go about gathering it?
  • As the information is gathered, how do you analyze the information?
  • Further, how can analysis of information be made accessible to business decision makers?
  • Can the data be effectively visualized to aid business decision makers?
  • Finally, how can technology be leveraged to facilitate collaboration using this information?
