Recently, IBM announced a partnership with Energy Australia, Australia's largest energy provider, to create a smart electric grid solution. jStart is part of the group that will be working to roll out over 12,000 sensing devices, as well as creating a monitoring and control system for the network--making Energy Australia's grid one of the most intelligent on the planet.
How jStart is involved
Working with IBM Global Business Services (GBS), jStart is aiding in the microdesign of the project--aiding the GBS team to create the design which will enable the intelligent network monitoring and control systems. Leveraging jStart's expertise in fast prototyping and integration of emerging technologies, the team will enable the quick interation of designs that GBS will then use as a platform to create the production system.

Being at the forefront of emerging technologies for IBM, jStart has naturally been involved in creating smarter, more intelligent systems since it's inception. Most recently, the team has focused on creating more intelligent content syndication systems, intelligent, cross-communications widgets, intelligently gathering diverse and complex unstructured data and analyzing and visualizing such data, and intelligently instrumenting existing networks for event detection and response.
