The Benefits of WebSphere Operational Decision Management
WebSphere Operational Decision Management improves the quality of transaction and process-related decisions that are made repeatedly, determining the appropriate course of action for each customer, partner and internal interaction. This offering brings the power of intelligent decision automation, which helps organizations three ways:
| The Power to Adapt | Reduce the time to implement change through a configurable, non-technical rule language and capabilities allowing business users to directly access and maintain decision logic |
|---|---|
| The Power to Align | Improve communication and collaboration between IT and line-of-business functions through a centralized decision management repository and shared governance controls |
| The Power to Act | Respond to actionable business situations with precision through business events and rules integration to decide when and what to do |
Benefits of WebSphere Decision Center and Decision Server
WebSphere Operational Decision Management consists of two component sets, which together form a comprehensive platform for the management and execution of rules-based automated decisions:
- WebSphere Decision Center: provides an integrated repository and management components for line-of-business subject matter experts to directly participate in the governance of the decision logic which guides business systems’ behavior.
Through the capabilities of WebSphere Decision Center, business and IT functions can work collaboratively, aligning the organization’s implementation of automated decisions and accelerating the maintenance lifecycle as they evolve to meet new external and internal requirements.- Comprehensive decision governance, including role-based permissions, custom metadata properties, multi-branch release management, business and technical validation capabilities, and historical reporting
- Business team collaboration through the Decision Center Business Console, providing a social experience for understanding, communicating and managing changes to evolving decision logic
- Intuitive rule authoring with a configurable vocabulary, interactive editors, language-based and graphical formats, and the option to work in a web-based environment or use Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- WebSphere Decision Server: provides the runtime components to automate operational decisions and enable the detection of actionable business opportunities and risk situations, increasing the precision of interactions compared to embedded decision logic.
With WebSphere Decision Server, organizations can deploy decision management solutions that monitor a business network to discover and take action on event-based data patterns, and then process this information against hundreds or even thousands of inter-related business rules in order to determine the appropriate response within both front-end and back-end systems.- High performance runtimes reliably support mission-critical decision services for both Event-driven and Service-oriented architectures. The execution runtimes can be configured to provide invocation of shared decision services that can be used for both rule execution and event processing, as well as enabling rule execution to emit events for correlation by the events runtime.
- Eclipse-based development tooling provides a unified application development environment, along with the ability to efficiently synchronize IT work with the Decision Center repository.
