IBM® Cognos® developed a number of diagnostic tools to help verify your environment, identify and troubleshoot issues, provide you with a way to automate data collection and detailed systems information when you need it.
Diagnostic results can be attached to cases logged with IBM Cognos Support, significantly reducing time spend during the manual data collection.
Most diagnostics are read-only and do not make any changes to your environment or IBM Cognos products. We highly recommend to read the documentation of each diagnostic prior to execution.
Diagnostics are developed for IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence (BI), IBM Cognos ReportNet (CRN), IBM Cognos Software Development Kit (SDK), Financial Performance Management (PM), and other generic diagnostics.

IBM Cognos 8 BI Diagnostic: This diagnostic will retrieve system and product information about IBM Cognos 8 BI.
IBM Cognos 8 BI Content Store Diagnostic: Retrieves Content Store Database Information. This diagnostic is executed when customer has problems with getting tables created in IBM Cognos 8 BI.
IBM Cognos 8 BI Health Check Diagnostic: This diagnostic gathers information about your system and checks the installed software on your machine if compliant with the supported IBM Cognos software environments.
IBM Cognos 8 Framework Manager Diagnostic: This diagnostic will retrieve system and product information about IBM Cognos 8 Framework Manager.
IBM Cognos 8 PowerPlay Server Batch Administration: Execute administration commands for IBM Cognos 8 PowerPlay Server for Cognos 8 administration commands directly from the Microsoft® Windows® DOS® command prompt or UNIX® command shell.
Update IBM Cognos 8 BI PowerCube DataSources Utility: To update IBM Cognos 8 BI PowerCube data sources whose source cubes have changed locations.

Validate Report Specifications Diagnostic: The validation tool is command line driven and requires the IBM Cognos 8 SDK be installed. The Validate tool runs a health check of the report specification in the Content Store and reports any errors returned by the Validate capability. To find out more about this tool, please read the Validate Tool document.
Copy Reports Between Servers Diagnostic: The following IBM Cognos SDK tool was written to address the need for copying reports between IBM Cognos 8 BI servers. This tool allows for the copying of reports from a development to a production box.
IBM Cognos 8 BI Dispatcher Diagnostic: This tool will assist you to diagnose and troubleshoot your IBM Cognos 8 BI version 8.3 environment regarding all Dispatcher settings. You can use it to find out any inconsistencies within the Dispatcher settings or to save the settings on a regular basis to track any changes
IBM Cognos 8 BI Content Manager Browser Diagnostic: The IBM Cognos 8 BI Content Manager Browser Tool reports detailed information for all objects in the Content Manager database. For each object within the Content Manager database, the user can review the properties and their respective value settings.
Dynamic Report Specification Updater Diagnostic: For the most part, JavaScript® applications written in IBM Cognos ReportNet version 1.x upgraded well to IBM Cognos 8 BI version 8.1 or 8.2 as there were few changes in IBM Cognos Viewer to account for. In IBM Cognos 8 BI version 8.3, IBM Cognos Viewer was re-architected to allow it to run within Report Studio to provide the live data view for the Express Authoring Mode. This necessitated changes to the source code resulting in JavaScript applications not upgrading cleanly.
Upgrading JavaScript Application: This document provides advice and guidance on for upgrading JavaScript applications which run in the IBM Cognos Viewer from IBM Cognos ReportNet version 1.x or IBM Cognos 8 BI version 8.1 or 8.2 BI to IBM Cognos 8 BI version 8.3 or 8.4.
IBM Cognos 8 BI Content Manager Size Diagnostic: The Content Manager Size (CMSize) and SQL scripts reports size and count of all objects in the Content Store database. It returns the count, approximate size (total size of LOB properties for the objects of interest). The CMSize diagnostic also gives the option to specify search scope and type of objects.
Report Specification Analyzer Diagnostic: This Diagnostic provides a faster navigation through report objects and html items. The syntax will be highlighted and formatted for IBM Cognos functions, operators and most used JavaScript keywords. It also provides the means to analyze complex report objects and their dependencies.
