The PBM IBM Personal Data Integration for Customer Care solution (IPDICCS) receives information about persons and manages a cross reference capability by matching local source system identifiers to a community or “enterprise” wide ID. The IPDICCS stores patient demographic data and selected supporting data and employs an identification process to determine if there are any other records for this individual in the enterprise, either from the same facility or from other facilities in the community. This identification process employs deterministic and probabilistic matching to provide the highest accuracy. The new record may be linked to existing records for the same person in the index, added as a new person, or flagged for review when the statistical evidence of a match is inconclusive. The IPDICCS also processes search requests to locate information on a particular individual and manages the community information as associated outside information. It provides the ability to:
- Uniquely identify individuals and resolve duplicates
- Store individuals’ demographic information in a central repository
- Provide cross reference of individuals’ IDs
- Provide individuals with encounter history
- Manage individuals’ and accounts’ hierarchy
- Support applicable messaging standards (HL7, XML, XL, etc) in a fully enabled SOA environment
- Translate from one messaging standard to another on the fly
