IBM® Informix® Dynamic Server Workgroup Edition is a low-maintenance OLTP data server for workgroup computing
It provides high availability, high-performance technology, application development support and system management support.
- Includes high-availability features such as continuous log restore, and point-time instance wide restore, table-level backup and recovery
- Provides high-performance technology in the form of multithreaded architecture for SMPs with asynchronous I/O, non-blocking checkpoints, cascading deletes, and direct I/O support that delivers performance near that of raw devices, with ANSI SQL extensions for derived tables and optimizer directives that deliver greater query performance
- Allows a customized deployment footprint, and application control of the server via the administration API., making it even easier to develop and deploy integrated applications
- Delivers easier usage of of location-based data in an SOA environment with the Web Feature Service API
- Supports application development with Smart Large Objects; user-defined data types, aggregates, and routines that are integrated with Informix Dynamic Scalable Architecture (DSA); support for spatial and temporal data with R-tree indexing technology
- Allows multiple triggers on tables and views for application flexibility and compatibility
- Offers a high-availability data replication (HDR) add-on option for disaster recovery
