Information Governance - Overview
The volume and variety of digital information is exploding as our planet becomes more instrumented, interconnected and intelligent. Current economic times require organizations to analyze new information faster and make timely decisions for achieving business goals within budget.
The IBM InfoSphere Information Governance solutions establish sustainable governance of information quality, master the complete lifecycle of information, secure and protect privacy and establish standards across all types of information projects. IBM delivers years of expertise built into the InfoSphere solutions and combines that with a critical piece of any governance project: Process. In late 2010, IBM introduced the IBM Data Governance (now Information Governance) Unified Process in a book authored by Sunil Sores. The combination of the process and InfoSphere Information Governance solutions not only leverages IBM’s expertise, but also the expertise and validation of business partners and customers.
The Information Governance Community (link resides outside of ibm.com), pioneered by IBM thought leaders, customers, partners and analysts is a global expansion of the IBM Information Governance Council.
The IBM Information Governance Council created in 2005, pioneered thought leadership around information governance and continuous process improvement. The collaboration of top global organizations, business partners and industry experts lead to the development of the Information Governance Maturity Model (link resides outside of ibm.com).
