IBM completes the acquisition of Cloudant, Inc.

On March 4th, IBM announced the completion of its acquisition of Cloudant, Inc., accelerating and extending IBM’s Big Data & Analytics portfolio, specifically data management capabilities, with a NoSQL, database-as-a-service (DBaaS) for web-scale and mobile applications. Cloudant is also available as part of IBM’s Cloud Platform and IBM MobileFirst solutions, and is now an IBM company.

Delivered as a cloud service, Cloudant eliminates complexity by enabling developers of fast-growing web and mobile apps to focus on developing their applications without the need to manage database infrastructure or growth.
