The IMS™ Enterprise Suite is a set of components that support open integration technologies to enable new application development and extend access to IMS transactions and data. The IMS Enterprise Suite provides user-friendly standard interfaces, simplifies IMS metadata generation, and enables IMS business event data and monitoring. The IMS Enterprise Suite simplifies and expands IMS development (including Java™ and XML), administration, and access. Graphical user interfaces and standards-based programming models are provided through tooling support from the WebSphere® and Rational® product families.
The IMS Enterprise Suite is available for both z/OS® and distributed platforms, and is a no-cost product for unlimited installs. The IMS Enterprise Suite components are designed to complement IMS 12 and IMS 11.
IMS Enterprise Suite Components
IMS Enterprise Suite SOAP Gateway allows you to get more value from your trusted IMS application assets in an SOA environment, without requiring any changes to your business logic. With SOAP Gateway, your IMS applications can call out to web services, or be called from web services, independent of platform, environment, programming language, or programming model. Your IMS applications can also send business event data to business event processing and monitoring engines such as IBM® WebSphere Business Events and IBM Business Monitor.
IMS Enterprise Suite Connect APIs for Java and C extend connectivity of distributed platforms to IMS and simplify application development for stand-alone, user-written IMS Connect clients.
IMS Enterprise Suite DLIModel utility plug-in translates IMS source files into reliable metadata that can be used for IMS XML or database web services in an Eclipse-based environment, eliminating the need for hand-coding.
IMS Enterprise Suite Explorer for Development (IMS Explorer for Development) is the new face of IMS: an Eclipse-based graphical tool that simplifies IMS application development tasks. Display and edit IMS databases, segments, fields and more, from an industry-standard IDE.
IMS Enterprise Suite Java Message Service (JMS) API expands database web services in Java dependent regions to offer synchronous callout support via the ICAL DL/I call.
Installable information center framework is now included in IMS™ Enterprise Suite Version 2.2. You can run a local information center or an information center server on a Windows XP or Windows 7 system. The installable information center framework provides the flexibility to install documentation for only those products that you are interested in. An update mechanism helps ensure that the documentation in your installable information center is always current. Customers ordering the suite from the Shopz website will receive a CD with the installable information center framework. Distributed customers can download the framework from the download site.
Two limited use licenses (without support) of IBM Rational Developer for System z are provided for each physical System z mainframe for which IMS Version 10, Version 11, or Version 12 is licensed. Terms and conditions are outlined in the Rational Developer for System z licensing information. Rational Developer for System z IMS Edition can be downloaded from the IMS Enterprise Suite download website. V8.0.3 is the last version for which an IMS edition is made available to IMS customers. For newer versions, you can download the trial version for an evaluation period of 90 days from http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/r/rdz/.
