Full support for the significant enhancements in DB2 10 for z/OS such as the new type of IRLM to serialize utility access, eliminating the use of UTSERIAL by the DB2 utilities.
DB2 V10 utilities improve the usability and performance of online REORG in a number of ways, such as support for the reorganization of disjoint partition ranges of a partitioned table space, improving SWITCH phase performance and diagnostics.
There are enhancements to online reorganizations of base table spaces that use LOB columns to allow update access.
LOAD and UNLOAD utilities enhancements include building a single dictionary that is used for all partitions, support of spanned records for UNLOAD of LOB and XML data and elapsed time reductions for loads of LOB and XML data.
Data set level FlashCopy exploitation is provided for utilities including COPY and LOAD with the ability to create a consistent backup with no availability outage. FlashCopy support is also in REORG, REBUILD INDEX, COPYTOCOPY and RECOVER.
The CHECK DATA and CHECK LOB utilities have increased availability and consistency in DB2 V10.
The CHECK DATA utility has added functionality to verify the consistency of XML documents that are stored in a separate XML table space.
