DB2 Automation Tool for z/OS, V2.2

Information Management software
Features and benefits

The IBM DB2 Automation Tool for z/OS can automate many common DB2 utility tasks as well as reduce the need to manually build DB2 utility JCL. The tool helps to reduce the use of system and people resources with re-useable actions that perform maintenance based on meeting user-defined conditions. This robust tool also provides the following features that enable you to benefit from improved and efficient utility processing:

Profiles:

  • Object profiles - Object profiles are lists of table spaces and/or indexes that you want included for processing by utility profiles. You can have as many objects included as you like. Wildcards make the selection process easy and error-free.
  • Utility profiles - Utility profiles contain the list of utilities with the options you want to be executed. This helps reduce the manual effort of keying in options and allows for greater user productivity. All profiles can be set once and reused.
  • Exception profiles - Exception profiles allow you to select conditions help determine the execution of utilities. There are more than 50 exceptions that can be used to trigger the utility execution.
  • Job profiles - Job profiles link object and utility profiles together and optionally include exception profiles. The objects within selected object profiles will specify the utilities within the selected utility profile to be executed. As many object and utility profiles as you like can be included in a job profile. They are stored within DB2 tables maintained by the tool.

Data Set Manager:

  • Displays table space or index data set attributes.
  • Provides ability to move table space and index data sets to other volumes.
  • Can change the storage group of table space and index data sets.
  • Can change the VCAT name.
  • Provides a space allocation feature that can change the sizing of storage group-defined table spaces.

Data page display:

  • Display and edit data within a table space directly from an ISPF panel.
  • Data is displayed in both hexadecimal and character format.
