The DB2 on Campus Program is a project designed to promote the use of DB2 in universities. The logistics and delivery of the program is performed between the DB2 Express-C team, and the local IBM Academic Initiative representative. The program consists of the following items and activities:

1. A speech titled “The role of DB2 Express-C in the Information on Demand World”. This speech explains DB2 9 technology, with an emphasis on pureXML™, and encourages students to use DB2 Express-C, create university DB2 user groups, participate in the DB2 forums, and write documents about DB2. All of these activities can help them to advance their future careers.
2. Introductory DB2 courses to obtain DBA and developer skills.
3. Free DB2 books donated to the university library

• Additional Information Management classroom resources

The DB2 Student Ambassador program is a voluntary program designed to have students promote the use of DB2 at educational institutions. Students highly motivated in learning and using DB2 are invited to participate. Though the program is voluntary, it gives students a chance to learn more about DB2, develop presentation skills and marketing skills. All of these skills will be valuable in their careers. The more activities performed, the better your resume will look! We hope this will help students get a job more easily in the future.

Duties of DB2 student ambassadors
DB2 Student ambassadors who are selected need to perform the following activities during their period:

1. Establish a DB2 User Group in their university (if it doesn't already exist)
   • This is an informal support group which can be run anyway desired
   • Create a Web page or join the DB2 on Campus group in Facebook.com. The instructions to join facebook.com are provided here.
   • Advertise your DB2 User Group in the university bulletin board or with banners, and encourage other students to join
2. Organize events: speeches/courses in your university, close-by universities, companies.
3. Post at least three entries in the DB2 Express-C forum. Questions, answers or comments are all fine.
4. At the end of your DB2 Student Ambassador period:
   • Help interview your replacement
   • Help train your replacement
5. Be innovative! Design new courses, tournaments, tutorials, etc.
6. Ensure you document everything you are doing, and take pictures. The DB2 User Group web site or the DB2 on Campus group in facebook.com can be used to store all of this information and make it available to your school mates. All of these will be helpful to be "visible" on the internet and help you get a good job!

Steps to become a DB2 Student Ambassador

1. Send your resume/curriculum vitae in English to db2univ@ca.ibm.com. In the subject line use "Interested in becoming a DB2 Student Ambassador"
2. Write a small paragraph (No more than 100 words) indicating why you would be a good DB2 student ambassador.
3. Indicate the period of time you are committed to work actively as a DB2 student ambassador (minimum of 6 months).
