Featured DB2 Student Ambassador
Marcelo Sousa is a student at the University of Minho in Portugal, finishing his bachelor in Computer Science at the Universiteit of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. He became a DB2 Student Ambassador late in 2007, and joined the University of Minho DB2 Student group during its early stages. Since then he has helped spreading the DB2 on Campus spirit through colleges and other universities. As a DB2 Student Ambassador, Marcelo has also developed several technical projects. For example, he created the DB2 pureXML IMS Industry Bundle and led the team that translated the book "Getting started with DB2 Express-C" from English to Portuguese (Portugal).
Marcelo is interested on databases with formal methods and distributed systems. He likes to code in script and functional languages such as Perl and Haskell but he also is interested on Ruby on Rails, C#, Java and new technologies. Marcelo is now working as Junior Researcher at the University of Minho Computer Engineering department on distributed programming with the MPI library in several clusters. In his free time, Marcelo enjoys playing the guitar, watching movies and reading.

The DB2 User Community & KLNCIT DB2 User Group in Madurai, India is without a doubt the largest university community and user group in India boasting 240 members. The community and group are led by two DB2 Student Ambassadors from K.L.N College of Information Technology: T.R.Raghuveer Babu, and G.S.Pradeep Kumar. Recently, the community and group were inagurated on a ceremony held on September 24th, 2008. Plans for the community and group are to increase the number of members in the south of India by recruiting more DB2 Student Ambassadors. DB2 Express-C t-shirts and DB2 on Campus DVDs have been sent to them for promotional activities. Congratulations!
