Case study: Miyazaki chooses DB2 9 pureXML™ for high performance, low price

Case study

University of Miyazaki chose IBM DB2 9 with pureXML™ to manage its appraisal database system. The Japanese university worked with independent software vendor (ISV), Software Research Associates (SRA) Tohoku Inc. to find a system that was inexpensive and efficient.

SRA tried other systems to support its XML data but none had the offerings of DB2 9.
“The reason we picked DB2 9 is its pureXML support, high performance and low price,” said Mr. Katsuyoshi Hongou, SRA solution division business strategy group manager.

Additionally, DB2 9 provides University of Miyazaki’s staff with flexibility for easy, low-cost customization and information management needs.

ISVs like SRA are more frequently choosing to partner with IBM to provide customers with technological innovation and business value.
