Case study
Douglas Holding AG looked to IBM DB2 9 with pureXML™ to streamline its operations, reducing inconsistencies while saving both time and money.
The specialty retailer, with over 1,600 shops in Europe and the United States, finds that with DB2 it has accelerated its storage of XML data by eight times over previous levels.
As the only data server to offer pureXML support, DB2 9 is being used by Douglas to bridge the data in its cash register systems with the information in its data warehouse. Results include improved reporting capabilities and increased accuracy of information.
“Using the XML support of the DB2 9 data server, we can maintain mass data and make it available to our business-critical applications very flexibly, right on time and with extremely high quality,” said Dr. Andreas Birkendorf, team leader of Data Logistics for Douglas.
