IBM now introduces DB2 pureScale, a high availability solution that reduces the risk and cost of business growth by providing unlimited capacity, continuous availability, and application transparency.
DB2 High Availability provides 24x7 availability for your DB2 database. It consists of the DB2 High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) feature, the DB2 Online Reorganization feature, and IBM Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatforms.
DB2 High Availability is ideal for organizations that cannot afford to lose connectivity to their database servers or have their database applications down. It allows failover to a standby system in the event of a software or hardware failure on the primary system. Online Reorganization actively reconstructs the database table for better performance, while permitting uninterrupted access to the table data. Tivoli System Automation provides high availability by automatically transitioning to a standby DB2 database server.
Reduced data server down-time enables you to meet strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with no loss of data during infrastructure failures. Reliable data recovery allows continuous table access through disaster strikes. DB2 has easy administration with automatic failover co-ordination and hands-free control of IT infrastructure.
DB2 pureScale also offers high availability capabilities. DB2 pureScale uses a cluster-based architecture with shared-disk storage to offer easy scalability and high availability.
