Overview
The FileNet Content Manager connector for SharePoint Web Parts enables and extends Microsoft SharePoint providing users direct access to documents and process management activities provided by FileNet content management through the Windows SharePoint environment. Using the FileNet Content Manager connectors for SharePoint Web Parts users can author, browse and manage content stored in FileNet Content Manager, access their personal and public inboxes for task and workflow management, as well as initiate FileNet BPM workflows from SharePoint.
Technology and business benefits include:
Single enterprise catalog: Content moved/archived into a FileNet Content Manager repository allows robust management of content, processes, records and email throughout the complete lifecycle – from creation through final disposition – regardless of where they are created, e.g. SharePoint. IBM connects to existing Microsoft SharePoint repositories to better manage content and mitigate compliance risk across the enterprise.
Advanced content management capabilities: Content originally created in SharePoint, now managed by FileNet Content Manager, supports document level security, major/minor versioning, cross-vendor enterprise search capabilities (content federation), as well as the ability to restore a single document and/or folder and makes content available via web 2.0 style clients, e.g. FileNet Workplace XT.
