Features and benefits
Content Collector for Microsoft SharePoint 2.1.1 (formerly InfoSphere Content Collector for Microsoft SharePoint) extends IBM ECM content collection capabilities to SharePoint users, allowing approved collaborative content to be incorporated into IBM ECM processes. It is the next generation of the FileNet Connector for SharePoint Document Libraries plus support for Content Manager Enterprise Edition.
Content Collector for Microsoft SharePoint collects content from SharePoint based on administrator-configured business rules, then either copies or moves documents from SharePoint into FileNet Content Manager or Content Manager Enterprise Edition.
Replaces former FileNet Connectors for SharePoinht Document Library.
Collects documents from SharePoint Document Libraries with support for automatic SharePoint child site discovery.
Copy allows an option to make the SharePoint copy read-only.
Move allows an option to replace the SharePoint content with a link to the FileNet Content Manager content.
These alternatives support more robust content, process, records management and compliance policy enforcement while making content available across the entire enterprise, irrespective of the IT application source or environment.
Technology and business benefits include:
Single enterprise catalog. Content moved/archived into a FileNet Content Manager or Content Manager Enterprise Edition repository allows robust management of content, processes, records and email throughout the complete lifecycle – from creation through final disposition – regardless of where they are created, e.g. SharePoint. IBM connects to existing Microsoft SharePoint repositories to better manage content and mitigate compliance risk across the enterprise.
Advanced content management capabilities. Content originally created in SharePoint -- now managed by FileNet Content Manager or Content Manager Enterprise Edition -- supports document level security, major/minor versioning, and makes content available via Office 2007 integration and the web 2.0 style clients, e.g. FileNet Workplace XT and WEBI
