An intense didactic activity has been developed since 1983 producing numerous didactic resources, book, theses (about 120) on several themes.

Two books have been published

Research Skills:

He has developed an intense scientific activity since 1983 producing numerous publication on the themes of the Software engineering, maintenance of the software, quality, software metrics, testing, reverse engineering, tools for the reconstruction of existing software documentation, criterions of existing and rapid reuse of the software, Architectures and Evaluation of the Systems: representation of the multimedia data, safety of the distributed systems, workflow management and rapid prototyping of tools, e-learning and Eclipse technology.

He has organized and installed a virtual laboratory and some activities of collaboratory (collaboration and laboratory) among 3 unities of research involved and shared geographically (Department of Informatica e Sistemistica of the University Federico II of Naples (DIS-UniNa), Italy, Department of Mathematics and Computer science of the University of Salerno (DMI-UniSA), Italy and the Department of Computer and Information Science in the Cleveland State University (DCIS-CSU). The laboratory, denominated Multimedia Software Engineering Collaborative and Distributed Lab (MSECDL), has allowed the definition and the management of two multimedia projects. The first denominated project RSR (Representation, Simplification, and Reconstruction) has served to study and to experiment the methodologies of representation of the multimedia data; the second denominated TAO_XML project (Tele Action Object_XML) has been faced to the purpose to turn the graphics Tao into language XML for a best and efficient fruition of the multimedia data on the internet. Actually he is interested in Open Source Technology, particularly ECLIPSE platform; in fact he coordinate the Italian Eclipse community that group together university research unit and industries around common goals (see also http://eclipse.dis.unina.it)

He participates, in quality of chairman, to remarkable national and international congresses, was author of about 100 papers technical papers in refereed international journals and conferences.

Since 1988 he is valued member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), an association that picks up and coordinates researchers and international operators in the sector of the Computer Science, the Software Engineering and of the Security;

Since 1983 he is member of the AICA (Italian Association for the computer science and the Automatic Calculation), an association that picks up and it coordinates researchers and busy national operators in the sector of the computer science;

He is Referee and associates editor of international magazines hinged in the sectors of Computer science.

He chaired and was editor of the First International Conference on Eclipse Technologies Eclipse-It 07- Napoli 4-5 October 2007. He was in the Program Committee and publicity chair of Eclipse-It 08 Bari, 17-18 November 2008. He will be into Program Committee and publicity chair of Eclipse-It 09 that will be held into Bergamo 28-29 September 2009

Currently he is coordinator of Eclipse Italian community http://eclipse.dis.unina.it (link resides outside ibm.com)
