Additional information
The journey has been very fruitful so far with DB2 as it has given me a lot of exposure in the Database Arena. Hope to do some work on Database Consolidation Projects and Virtualization in the coming months with DB2 and other Database platforms. Excited about pureXML, Compression and .NET enhancements.
Aim to strive and establish a robust user community in the sub continent.
My message to the community is that don’t be afraid to try something new even if you think you cannot learn it. I learnt DB2 the hard way by initially downloading db2 over a low bandwidth connection, but later on, attended IBM Conferences, learnt from the experts on how things are to done and the rest as they say is History!
One needs to look around articles, peers, blogs, books and conferences to get the maximum advantage of using DB2 to the best!
Also participate in forums and help one another, Always remember that you were @ one time @ the same position they were.
Give back to the community without expectations. Write Articles, Blogs and even videos to help your friend or peers to learn the Technology.
Participate in Competitions organized by IDUG and IBM. I won the XML Challenge contest for Ported App Contest.
My last word of advice is Search , Learn , Implement and again do the same thing over and over till you get it right!
DB2 ROCKS!!!
