Lockwood Lyon
Lockwood Lyon has spent most of the last three decades as a DB2 DBA, consultant, author, and teacher. In 1974, Lock started out as a PL/1 programmer using IMS, gradually morphing into an IMS database administrator. With DB2's growth in the late 1980s, Lock shifted to DB2 database administration and began publishing technical articles and teaching classes. By 1991 Lock had published several books including "The IMS/VS Experts Guide", and "Migrating to DB2". In 1995 he published the award-winning "MIS Manager's Appraisal Guide", which related the issues surrounding performance appraisals of IT personnel and recommended changes in forms, procedures, and interactions.
Lock continued to expand his horizons with public speaking engagements, including technical presentations at IT industry conferences for organizations such as Guide, SHARE, and the International DB2 Users Group. He also began publishing articles on the art (and science) of database administration.
Lockwood Lyon is currently Principal Database Administrator for Fifth Third Bankcorp, responsible for multiple DB2z production installations. He regularly contributes articles on DB2 and IT best practices, including a blog on database administration.
