Bjarne Nelson aka Kermit
Bjarne Nelson was born in 1959 in Copenhagen Denmark and started to work as an IT professional in 1981 after finishing a Technical Degree in Computing. Shortly thereafter he married Elisabeth with whom he now has four lovely children.
In 1991 he complimented his educational background by finishing a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Informatics & Management Accounting while still working full time as a DB2 Specialist.
Throughout the years of his professional career Bjarne has been working in various industries like manufacturing, insurance, services and banking. Geographically the main working locations have been Denmark and Switzerland, but occasionally also other European countries as well as more distant places like South Korea for instance.
The following provides a brief profile of Bjarne Nelson as a DB2 Consultant and Specialist:
- Worked extensively with DB2 since 1985, both under z/OS in the context of OLTP systems as well the UNIX flavor used for large scale data warehousing.
- Proven track record of significant contributions and achievements amongst some of the most prestigious DB2 users worldwide.
- Part of the second wave of DB2 consultants to be included in the IBM Gold Consultant Program resulting in more than a decade of building close relationships with key people within IBM and the Silicon Valley Lab as well as the Toronto Lab.
- Huge network of peers within the DB2 industry build through heavy involvement in doing DB2 community work since 1992 and resulting in being inducted into the IDUG Volunteer Hall of Fame, where the servicing includes 2 years as European Conference Chair and now being VP on the IDUG Board of Directors.
- Done more than 30 technical presentations both in Europe as well as North America and elsewhere, and have provided seminars, courses, and training both directly towards clients as well as in open forums.
- Keeping pace with the changing technology by participating in technical conferences, briefings, and attending required special training summing up to a continuous investment of at least 2 weeks per year.
