Description

Optimized for the IBM PureApplication System, the IBM Transactional Database Pattern is a set of integrated capabilities that specifically support the creation and management of databases for online transaction processing applications. These types of applications typically support hundreds of users running short query and update requests -- for example, order-processing systems, shopping cart applications, package tracking systems and so on.  The most important service level metrics for these applications are availability, performance, and cost.
Key functions enabled by the Transactional Database Pattern are:
•    Simple, optimal database creation and configuration
•    Easy integration with security and backup processes
•    Simple database deployment cloning
•    SQL compatibility support for Oracle Database applications
•    Integrated data modeling, monitoring and diagnostics
The use of this pattern can help Information Technology (IT) reduce operational complexity by enabling self-service features that empower the application groups to provision transactional databases on their own in minutes.  Use of this pattern can reduce time required for administering transactional databases so more resources can be devoted to developing new solutions and innovation
